Kieriona left the fortress with sore eyes. 'Man... I should really learn to stock up on candles before I run out of them...' she grumbled to herself as she rubbed her eyes and stiffled a yawn. She had just pulled an all nighter and hadn't realized it (again) until the sun was pouring in through one of the barred windows. She sighed and walked down the street, headed for the nearest merchant with a pocket half full of coins.
It didn't take her very long to find a bunch of candles and within a half hour she was walking back to the Humingotn Fortress with them in her pack. She had the feeling that she was cheated on the price but whether she was or not didn't change the fact that she needed them.

Connor made a break for it, slamming against the door and pushing the guards down on the other side as the door suddenly opened without warning. Two other guards were desperately trying to keep up with his speed in their clinking armour as he escaped the fortress. Connor turned a corner without losing to much speed and the next thing he knew he was on the ground with a sharp pain in his head. Seeing a recovering person in front of him he quickly hid what he had stolen inside his tunic. Connor stood up and was going to just leave her there but she stopped him...

Kieriona had landed directly on her pack with all the candles in it. Her back ached terribly and wasn't about to let such an inconsiderate person leave. As she was sitting up the young boy that collided with her was trying to leave. She grabbed his arm and stood up herself. She could hear the angry shouts and clinking armour coming toward them as she stared at the boy. She gave him a questioning look, "Why are you in such a rush?" she asked him. She held him tightly.

Connor struggled to get away from her when he noticed her look. 'Darn it! She knows!' But seeing as how she was stronger than him, though not by much, he could tell it took a lot for her just to keep her ground, he gave up his tugging as to save energy for when he could get away later. Connor started to sweat a bit as the guards got closer but tried to keep his cool demeanor. "They're going to put me in jail for touching a sacred object. But... I-I didn't take it! I swear I didn't take it!" he played. Connor hoped that she would buy his story. "Please don't let them put me in jail. I might get... executed..." he whispered the last word with fear.

His story perked her interest. "Let me see..." she mumbled mostly to herself but it was loud enough for him to hear. She was going to peek around the corner but didn't want them to see her and be suspected for aiding him in theft if his story wasn't true. She turned around, "Come on." With that, she began running down the street.
Kieriona led him down a series of allies until they were well away from the guards. Though it would only buy them maybe a few extra minutes, enough for him to explain further and to get more information. She stopped. "Exactly what did you," she paused, "touch?"

Connor tried to remember everything he had seen in the rooms he had spied into but couldn't think of anything that looked more valuable than the stone, or even 'sacred' for that matter. So... he said the only thing that came to his mind within the few seconds he was allowed to think before she lightly shook him. "Okay!" he snapped. "I touched... that green stone..." he answered Kieriona shyly.

Kieriona's eyes lit up with utter surprise. "Are you kidding?" she exclaimed, then she quickly put her hand over he mouth and listened for any clinking armor. "Are you that stupid!" was the rhetorical question that escaped her mouth before she could stop it. To be honest, Kieriona had been looking for a way to get the stone out of the forbidden room for as long as she could remember. No one was allowed to examine it, and that was something she deeply loathed. "Do you even know what that stone is?"

Connor took a moment to listen, but made it look like he was thinking hard. Losing his innocent act at the moment wasn't the best thing for his health. "No," he replied simply in a childish tone. "Is it powerful?" Now his curiosity wasn't a lie, which made it easier. In truth, he had no idea what the heck the stone was. It just looked shiny, priceless and caught his eye, so he took it.

Kieriona sighed and rolled her eyes. 'I can't believe this kid. Then again... I guess it's not so unbelievable. I'm not even completely sure what it does or why it was made...' she thought. Her thoughts would have gone on but the faint sound of guards rang through the air again. She looked down the alley. "Come with me out of the city, then we can talk about what exactly you did." She sounded a little suspicious of him.

Connor felt a little uneasy with the way she said that but hid his inner feelings from her. He simply nodded, knowing that he'd rather be outside of the city with a scary female than being captured. He followed her out of the city.
